Navistar objections based on emotion

Opponents of Navistar's move to Lisle have been complaining that they haven't been involved in the discussion process. They have unjustly accused elected bodies from the DuPage County Forest Preserve District to the village of Lisle of engaging in "closed door deals."
In addition, a member of the opposition complained in your newspaper about the "undue burden" of attending a Saturday meeting of the Lisle Planning and Zoning Commission. That meeting was specifically scheduled to make it easy for people who wished to attend, as opposed to a night meeting, and allowed for several hours of presentation and exchange.
The opposition argument, "We don't trust them" is based on emotion, not facts. The facts show that this is an opportunity for positive growth in this negative economic climate. It is unfair for a small vocal minority to hold up a move that's good for Lisle (homes, jobs and businesses), good for DuPage County and good for the financially strapped state of Illinois whose policies have already driven far too many businesses to other states.
